On Sunday 30 October, we also have a very special swing dancing class and a full hour of swingin’ jazz from the incredible local big band – Artemis Orchestra, so you can practice those swing steps!

Jazz is a universal musical form, but beyond its syncopated rhythms and arrangements sits powerful political struggles, social justice, gender equality and ultimately freedom.
This free specially curated film program examines some of the great lives, moments, textures and sounds of the jazz movement in some of its most beautiful and surprising forms. Designed as a precursor and
compliment to the Perth International Jazz Festival taking place between November 4-6, this program pumps, jumps and rolls through through sounds and images that capture some stunning live performance, intimate rehearsals, television appearances and impromptu moments.
Mixed with wonderful interviews and infused with inherent and inspiring social and political commentary, this film program is free to the public and represents a sublime and surprising journey through the jazz form.
