Still in their teens, the players in The People represent the future of jazz .

South West’s own The People have been playing together in some form since February 2022. These six teenagers, aged between 13 and 16, united as an offspring of Jampact 2.0, an initiative to connect young musicians. They have thrived under the guidance of some musical parents, mentorship from local musicians, particularly Sean Lillico, and the support of local venues giving them great performance opportunities. Additions and changes to the band have increased their scope and sound over their short history. They are very excited to be playing amongst such high-calibre musicians at the Perth International Jazz Festival. This is just the beginning of The People.
