Directed by Masa Ikeda and Mace Francis, the WA Youth Jazz Orchestra and Showa University of Music (Japan) combine forces to celebrate culture and their shared love of music.
SHOWAYJO is a special collaboration between musicians from the WA Youth Jazz Orchestra and the Showa University of Music in Kawasaki, Japan. Since 2014 the orchestras have exchanged partners to immerse themselves in the culture and share their love of music. In this special performance the two groups will come together to form a cross-cultural big band, playing classic big band repertoire as well as premiering a new work collectively composed by orchestra members.
