Satchies Trio pay homage to the great piano trios with swinging arrangements. The trio is made up of pianist Harry Mitchell, Zac Grafton on bass and Alex Reid on drums. 

Zac Grafton

Bassist Zac Grafton has appeared at jazz festivals throughout Australia and overseas in Asia, Europe and the US. Highlights of Zac’s career to date include performing with Peter Bernstein, George Garzone, Fabian Almazan and Tal Cohen as well as the opportunity to study with Gilad Hekselman, Robert Hurst, Walter Smith III, Linda Oh, and Sam Anning. Based in Perth, he has featured on a number of local albums with Harry Mitchell Quartet, Jamie Oehlers Night Music and Kristian Borring as well as local instrumental band Grievous Bodily Calm.

Harry Mitchell

Pianist Harry Mitchell has released 16 albums as a leader, establishing himself as a prolific musician in the Australian jazz scene. In 2017, he was awarded the title of Young Australian Jazz Musician of the Year at the Australian Bell Jazz Awards, followed by the West Australian Music (WAM) award for Best Pianist in 2018. Additionally, he won the WAM Best Jazz Song award in 2017, 2018, and 2020.
Mitchell has performed at various music festivals across Australia, including the Perth International Jazz Festival, Sydney Con Jazz Festival, Melbourne Jazz Festival, the Wangaratta Festival of Jazz and Blues, and the Ubud Village Jazz Festival in Bali. In 2021, he was selected as a finalist in the Wangaratta Jazz Festival’s National Jazz Awards piano competition. Mitchell has also backed a range of artists, such as Kate Ceberano, Charlie Watts, George Garzone, and Veronica Swift.

Alex Reid

Alex Reid is a National Jazz Award Finalist and three times WAM nominated drummer. Based in Perth/Boorloo, his main musical output is concentrated into his award-winning original project Grievous Bodily Calm as well as dance music duo Bad Whip and his constantly gigging jazz trio. In addition to consistent sideman work and his own projects, Alex is also studying the Tabla and Hindustani music.
