One of the most unique talents in music today, esperanza spalding returns to Australia as the headline act of this year’s Perth International Jazz Festival. The five-time Grammy award–winning vocalist, bass player and composer has created a jazz oeuvre that seamlessly fuses soul, funk, pop and rock into an intoxicating musical blend.
This stripped-back line-up of just three musicians will emphasize strength in simplicity and focus on the intimacy and virtuosity of her voice and bass playing, with songs taken from her back catalogue of eight albums. Featuring Eric Doob on drums and Matt Stevens on guitar, the trio will also be joined by dancers Kaylin Horgan and Tashae Udo, offering a special preview of esperanza’s forthcoming project. A rare opportunity to see one of the world’s great musicians in her first-ever Perth performance.
