Hamed Sadeghi

Born in Iran, Hamed Sadeghi is a multi-award-winning Persian-Australian tar player and composer who is known for his innovative blend of Persian classical music with Western contemporary music and jazz. He has worked on a variety of different projects and solo performances, showcasing his virtuosity on the tar, a stringed instrument from Iran.

Sadeghi’s music is characterised by its intricate melodies and rhythms, and he is highly regarded for his ability to seamlessly fuse different musical traditions. His work is a testament to the power of cross-cultural collaboration and the transformative potential of music.

Sadeghi founded Eishan Ensemble in Sydney in 2016. It features an ever-evolving line-up of world-class musicians, the core members being Hamed Sadeghi,  Paul Cutlan on saxophone, Adem Yilmaz on percussion, Pedram Layegh on guitar and Maximillian Alduca on double bass. They have released three albums to critical acclaim and have toured Australia, Asia and Europe.

Since 2018, Sadeghi has collaborated with Sydney’s Belvoir St Theatre as a composer and performer. As a classical Persian music performer and soloist, he has performed with the most well-known Iranian classical figures in Iran and overseas including maestro Shahram Nazeri and Aziz Shahrokh.
