This masterful organ trio brings together three of Australia’s most accomplished musicians.
Sydney pianist/organist Dr Steve Barry and Danish expat guitarist Dr Kristian Borring co-lead this exciting trio, joined by Perth drummer Dr Daniel Susnjar. Barry is the Program Leader for Jazz at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music. Hailed by LoudMouth magazine as “one of Australia’s most inventive and accomplished composer/improvisers”, his work oscillates between contemporary jazz, musical theatre, free improvisation and contemporary chamber and art music. His recent album In the Waves was praised by The Sydney Morning Herald as “…the finest instalment to date of the pianist’s bristling musical intelligence, rhythmic mutability, melodic flair and compositional gifts”.
Borring earned his reputation in London as “one of the most tasteful and accomplished guitarists on the scene” (Bebop Spoken Here) and has frequently performed in clubs and at festivals throughout the UK and Europe. He was recently called “a serious post-bop wizard” in Vintage Guitars Magazine (USA) upon releasing his latest album Earth Matters (2022) with the group Number Junky.
Susnjar is known internationally for his innovation and expertise in the field of Afro-Peruvian jazz music. For a long time based in the US, Susnjar has performed and recorded with music legends including Steve Miller, Gretchen Parlato, Dr G Yunupingu, Pharrell Williams, Patti Austin, Gloria Gaynor and Dee Dee Bridgewater.
