Austin Salisbury is a Perth-based jazz pianist, performing locally and nationally for the last 8 years. Graduating with First-Class Honours in Jazz Performance from Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts in 2017, he has learned his craft from some Australia’s finest jazz musicians including Tom O’Halloran, Jamie Oehlers, Russel Holmes and Glyn MacDonald.

He has toured nationally with Kate Pass’ acclaimed Persian-Jazz ensemble Kohesia and performed in the Perth, Sydney and Melbourne International Jazz Festivals with various groups. Actively involved in the Perth original jazz scene, he leads the Austin Salisbury Trio as well as original jazz quintet MELVE and the Afro-Cuban inspired jazz project Mejadra, alongside percussionist Imogen Thomson.

Most recently, Austin was selected as the pianist in the Australian National Youth Jazz Orchestra, an ensemble under the artistic direction of David Theake and Mace Francis, performing with renowned saxophonist Will Vinson at the 2021 Sydney Con Jazz Festival.
